Fannin County Public Schools
There are 3 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Population of 3,200 students in 12 grades, with a student to teacher ratio of 15 to 1 to ensure that your child will have plenty of teacher to student time and attention. Most of the students in Fannin County preformed at or above at grade level on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, a nationwide measure for academic success. The Fannin County High School rate of graduation continues every year to rise and was healthy 74.4 percent compared to the states overall graduation rate of 70.8 percent.
Mountain Area Christian Academy (MACA)
This is a Christian private school that opened in 2000 here in North Georgia. With a steady growth of enrollment, MACA has recently completed construction on a new state-of the-art facility. The school offers all grades with athletic programs such as, girls’ volleyball, basketball, cheerleading and soccer, and boys’ football, golf, basketball, and baseball.
Higher Education
Being in Blue Ridge, Georgia the location is close to some of the finest colleges and universities in the nation. For those who really want to stay close to home there is Appalachian Technical College, Toccoa Falls College, North Georgia Technical College and Young Harris College. All that offer high quality programs.

Fannin Regional Hospital is an award winning facility. As the county grows so does Fannin Regional. But, not only do we have Fannin Regional for your medical needs there is also, Riverstone Medical Campus which offers multiple full time primary care offices, urgent care facility, specialty clinic, walk-in emergency clinic, dental office, sleep center that is a leading provider of sleep studies, counseling, pharmacy, medical supplies facility, and an on-site independent laboratory.
Outdoors & Recreation
There are plenty of outdoor things to do in the North Georgia area. Here in Blue Ridge, you have the beautiful Blue Ridge Lake that is surrounded by approx. 75 percent of National Forest Service, Toccoa River that is one of the fewest rivers in the nation that runs North, Fightingtown Creek, and several other rivers/creeks are in this area. The Ocoee River is great for whitewater rafting. The Appalachian Trail is great for hiking, biking and camping. Take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway down by the Toccoa River and enjoy the scenery. Also, on those cool summer nights enjoy a good movie at the Swan Drive-in or for you race fans we have the Sugar Creek Race Way (dirt track racing). In the spring of the year we have the exciting fans from all over to come and see which team of runners, mountain bikers & kayakers are the fastest, strongest, and most durable with the Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race, one of the finest athletic outdoor events of its kind not only in Georgia, but throughout the nation. Most of all if you like the outdoors and scenery of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains there is something for everyone.
Mountain Arts Association
Located in the historic Fannin County courthouse is the Mountain Arts Association, which draws in adults and children with its fine arts and classes for all ages. Visitors can enjoy both permanent and rotation exhibits, pick up special gifts, attend lectures, storytelling groups and much more. Classes offer painting, jewelry design, pottery, and mosaic & stained-glass construction. For children there is drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, sculpture and other media. Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association sponsors the Arts in the Park Festival and the Wildlife & Nature Art Festival, that brings thousands to Fannin County every year. Filling Blue Ridge with art enthusiasts of all ages. |
